The DATOGRAPH UP / DOWN is now also available in a second variant three years after its first performance: in red gold case with black dial made of solid silver.
The DATOGRAPH AUF / AB, which was presented for the first time in 2012, has a technical set-up that sets standards: classic column gear shifting, exactly jumping minut meters and flyback function combine in a movement of great structural clarity. The aesthetic quality of the watch movement continues in a harmonious dial design: the characteristic long-length date and the two argenté-colored dials for small seconds and minute counters form an equilateral triangle.
The name addition UP / DOWN points to the long-term identification of the gear reserve display. UP stands for the maximum gear reserve of 60 hours at full throttle, AB for the elapsed spring housing - recognizable by the fact that the red-gold arrow reaches the red range of the display.
The black dial of solid silver is surrounded by a case of 18-carat red gold with a diameter of 41.0 millimeters. Red luminous hands and bar indices consistently continue the clear design.
The Lange manufactory caliber L951.6
The sapphire glass floor can be used to observe numerous mechanical sequences, such as the precise jumping minutometer, which guarantees precise time measurement, and the switching wheel, which controls the chronograph functions. The manufactory caliber L951.6, consisting of 451 parts, has all the typical long quality features such as the stable three-piece platinum made of natural nickel silver, elaborately finished parts, a hand-engraved balance cock and four screwed gold chatonons. Thus, this caliber is one of the most beautiful certifications for the chronograph competence of A. Lange & Söhne.
